Walking Safaris

Walking safaris is the oldest way of traveling through quite classical compared with other forms of travel. Think of the health benefits it brings to our bodies, the proximity to nature enriches our soul with amusement.

Walking safaris are the most natural way to see this pristine wilderness of Africa, and can be as strenuous or as relaxing as you wish, most camps and lodges or hotels will offer walking safaris in the surroundings.

Walking can allow you to get close to the game, and experience the wildlife from a more natural level.

Trekking and tracking walks are also fascinating, and to walk with the Masai or Datoga/Hadzabe bushmen, who have walked the land for centuries, is magical.

Here are some of our walking safari suggestions:

Walk With the Maasai in Lake Natron and around  Lake Manyara National Park.  To walk with these truly authentic tribesmen, who are warm and welcoming to guests, is truly an incredible experience.

The millions of years of tracking knowledge, allow them to tell how large an animal was, how fast it was going if it is pregnant, and much more.

Walk with the young Bushmen on an initiation ritual. There are many options, but this should not be missed on any trip to Tanzania

Walk with the Maasai people

This is a truly magical experience, similar to the bushmen this tribe is one of the oldest surviving bushpeople in the world. Walk with them and learn more about their culture.

These are typical pastoral societies living in the heart of Tanzania wild. From Serengeti to Ngorongoro crater, the Maasai have been traveling and spreading across the country in search of water and shelter for their hundreds of cattle.

A short walk at Mount Kilimanjaro

Strenuous outwalks from the Machame, Lemosho, or Marangu gates offer some fantastic sights, including some exposure to the rain forest, intermingling with summit climbers, and the experience of the different climatic zones of the mountain.

Mount Kilimanjaro is ideal for walking, and as you ascend through the trails with your guide, you will discover more about climbing Kilimanjaro.

We invite you to explore our short climbing tours in Tanzania

I'm grateful. In May 2024, I had the adventure of a lifetime. The teacher and his group were excellent, very professional, and they safely returned us from the peak. In the midst of the summit assault, Teacher and his tema were crucial in providing us with consolation and ensuring that the circumstances would allow us to accomplish our objectives. I'm grateful.

An Exceptional Ascent of Kilimanjaro Our Kilimanjaro Lemosho Trek with KWESA was an unforgettable experience that we will never forget. Kilimanjaro is an extremely difficult trek; we had to contend with bitter cold, thin air, severe weather, and biting winds among other difficult circumstances as we made our way to the top. Our company consisted of fourteen porters in addition to two other guides, Kaniki and Seif, who were led by our teacher. We are indebted to the fantastic staff for our successful ascent attempt. They encouraged and helped us every step of the way to get there, creating priceless memories of the journey in the process. A special thanks to Teacher, who not only assisted with travel arrangements but also oversaw the mission. I wholeheartedly urge everyone to check out KWESA.

Excellent Trip We enjoyed our trip to Tanzania immensely. Moody was an incredible safari guide that every one would ever wish for. We went to Ngorongoro, Serengeti, Lake Natron and Tarangire. Each place was special and Moody made interesting with his narration about the animals and habitats that we saw. We saw so many different animals on the trip and loved it a lot. The vehicle was in good condition, very spacious and had a daily supply of water/drinks in the fridge. Moody kept the vehicle very clean and also helped us with the canopy when we came to an interesting spot. I am so grateful to KWESA for organising such an amazing trip.

Just one goal and one vision. Therefore, Swahili Paradise Tours, who coordinated the trip with Kwesa, is where I booked my Kilimanjaro adventure. Before, during, and after the expedition, Kwesa provided really helpful support. may arrange for Edward, Kwesa's manager, to resolve everything. I decided to take the 8-day Lemosho hike. In the end, my group hike consisted of only me and the porters, chef, guide, and waiter. Really nice group. My guide, Zacharia, ensured that everything was in order, including pace. My waiter, Kenneth, was excellent. My cook, Patrick, made sure I had more than enough food the whole voyage. achieved success with a strong team. I really thank them. To all aspiring hikers, best of luck!

The lodging was ideal, and it was simply wonderful. My fantastic guide Haji, together with his crew of porters, head cook, and waiter, made my five days on Kilimanjaro unforgettable. Haji has been such a fantastic guide, and everything was planned flawlessly! He will take care of you, so you can relax:) My wife and I went on a five-day safari excursion with KWESA the previous week together with our two boys, ages seven and ten. The lodging was ideal, and it was simply wonderful. Edward can respond to your inquiries at any time.

A memorable encounter. The personnel put our needs first and gave us excellent service. Our experienced guide, Haji, went above and above to make sure we were safe and had a successful summit. Moreover, the food was excellent. Investing in the restroom facilities will make your experience much more comfortable.

My experience with Kwesa Tours was amazing. Edward and his crew were extremely kind, competent, and hospitable, both at the Kili Base Hotel and on the National Park excursions. Everything that I had anticipated was surpassed. Professional and amiable personnel worked there. The tours were excellent and the innumerable extras that went above and beyond to make sure I had an amazing time were both unexpected and really touching. My experience with Kwesa Tours was amazing.

Amazing service. Booking our safari with Kwesa Tours was the best decision we made for our trip to Tanzania. Our guides, Maliki and Hajji, were absolutely fantastic, providing us with a wealth of knowledge about the local wildlife and culture. From the moment we were picked up, we felt in safe hands. Maliki's expertise in navigating the Serengeti and Hajji's keen eye for spotting wildlife ensured that every game drive was an adventure filled with unforgettable sightings. The accommodations selected by Kwesa Tours were top-notch, offering comfort and luxury amidst the wilderness. I cannot recommend Kwesa Tours highly enough for anyone looking for an authentic and memorable safari experience in Tanzania.

Solo trip as single female Very pleased with my trekking experience with Kwesa tour. The director Edward was great human. He truly made me feel like home. I am so glad I opt out using western companies and decided with local companies. My guide Tulzia, the waiter Juma and the whole crew that were supporting me in my journey to conquer Kilimanjaro were truly amazing people. I initially signed up for 8 days so summit day will be my birthday but ended up completing it in 6 due to misunderstanding but ended up being great. When I got back they threw me huge birthday party which ended up being the best. Also I ended up going as private since no one else has signed up for that day which worked out great. Please choose local companies and support locals.

KWESA - It's like visiting your family in Tanzania! Just came back from an amazing experience hiking to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro with KWESA tours. My guide Tuliza and his team of wonderful porters and chefs made my trip unforgettable and successful. I felt strong enough to complete the trip in fewer days, and the team graciously accommodated my wishes and helped me reach the top at my own pace. Tuliza was prepared when I felt a bit nauseated, and made sure I was well taken care of. They modified the meals and adjusted the portions to my personal liking and served me delicious food. The whole vibe was extremely positive and their encouragement helped me reach the top and create wonderful memories for a lifetime!! (and this doesn't even mention the awesome day trips that the KWESA team helped organize and accompany me on when i returned to Moshi!!) Thank you to Edward and everyone at KWESA for treating me like family, and giving the most authentic Kilimanjaro and Tanzania trip I could have ever dreamed about.
